Part 2
Looks a bit small to be flying that high and away from you. Maybe a 40 inch wing would be better all around.
ReplyDeletePoint taken. The reason that I have 31" wing is because I have 31" long 6mm Depron foam board. Also, I flew the Micro Drone v3 which has 27" wing and found it flew ok.
DeleteCould you tell me more about why the wing requires longer in order to fly high?
thanks,
He was saying that a bigger wingspan would make it more visible.
DeleteMake sense!!!
DeleteGo for a wider wingspan. I have found that if you make the wingspan larger and the wing chord smaller(like a skywalker) the wing has more of a slow flying glider envelope. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=U4rqO84NsKs&list=UUEo0YthZr4-6AMGdMcUhmoQ&index=9
ReplyDeleteNice video you have there and good suggestion. I am consider to make the plane a bit bigger.
DeleteDo you know any rule of thumb or ratio between wingspan length and front and rear length?
You either find a plans to follow somewhere or you just use trial and error. It took me around 6 planes to get mine to fly well. You most likely wil not be happy with your first scratch build. It takes lots of practice
ReplyDeleteTrue. I am actually following the MicroDrone v3 in this design. Lets see how it will fly when I finish it.
DeleteThe microdrone v3 is a great plane and flies well. I have built a few of them myself. Just remember they cannot carry a lot of weight and are not too stable because of their short wingspan. Enjoy
DeleteUnderstood and point taken. thanks
